Santiago Overview

The name Santiago comes from the Portuguese Sao Tiago, or Saint James,.

Santiago was the first island to be settled on, and has the largest population of all the islands.

Santiago is also home to PRAIA, the bustling capital of Cape Verde.

A new international airport opened in the capital city of Praia, on the island of Santiago on 6^th October 2005.
